iPhone and iPod Touch Reaching Out to Educators and Students
Is there yet another reason to get an iPhone? If you are a student or educator, the answer is yes. Apple is now offering over 7000+ campus textbooks from leading publishers to the iPhone and iTouch at a reduced price because they are being transmitted digitally.
Apple claims that teachers will be able to make better curriculum choices and save time because they will have instant access to multiple course materials. Students will save approximately 50% on all purchases and be more efficient by using the “search capabilities, highlighting, note taking features and more” offered.
The only downside is reselling eTexbooks will be forbidden and will expire after 1 semester (180 days), 2 semesters (360 days) or 3 semesters (540 days) depending on the title, so you will not be able to pass it down to a friend or get some money back for selling it at the end of the year.
However, not having to deal with the long lines at the end of the year in order to sell your textbook for half the price plus getting the 50% savings up front, may actually make it a benefit. Not to mention the chiropractic bills you may save in the future from not having to lug all those textbooks around.
Do you want to see if the textbooks you need are there? Go to CourseSmart and there you’ll be able to search for your materials by course name, author, keyword, title or ISBN.
Have a great school year!
